Moose Country Minute – August 04 2018

As you listen to this, I am out on the water—finally—out near Arnprior, Ontario, on a body of water called White Lake,

It is supposed to have good bass fishing, although walleye was once its No. 1 game fish.

When there is a bay called Pickerel Bay, it says something, although it now means close to nothing.

I have my brother-in-law with me, mainly because my wife doesn’t want me out there alone.

I don’t blame her. My balance has gone to hell in a handbasket, and at least I will have someone to man the boat should I go overboard trying to take a leak.

We’ve discussed that here before. Before I go down for the last time, I will be sure to zip up my zipper.

I left phone message for both Angelo Viola—yes, that Angelo—as well as for his buddy, Pete Bowman, to see if they had any tips of good spots on White Lake.

Naturally, I didn’t hear back. If they’re anything like me, they don’t check the voicemail on their cell phones.

Email me, sure. But don’t leave a voice message.

So, the old boat has a new trolling motor on it. I hope it is simple to operate because I left the instructions and manual sitting on the courter of the marina where I bought it.

Did they phone me to tell me I had forgotten those booklets? Of course not.

Anyhow, by now we should have hooked into a mess of bass. At least was my plan as I headed out at 6 a.m.

I will tell you how we did next week.

So stay tuned.
