Angelo and Pete are the only guys I know with a  fishing show on television who actually give you the GPS positions of the hot fishing spots found during their adventures.

If you watch Fishin’ Canada, and I am sure you do, you know what I am talking about.

Most folks won’t tell their dear old moms where their favourite fishing holes are — and I was one of those.

You know the type.

You ask them where they caught that fish, and they’re hook their finger in the mouth a pull.

“Caught’em on the lip,” they’ll say.

By the way, I have never used that one, but it has been used on me more times than I can count.

And each time it pisses me off even more.

But we are living in an Internet world, and there are scores of blogs and forums where fishing folk can go to get inside information and even tips.

Since I am planning on spending more time in Ottawa, and will therefore be fishing more on the Ottawa and Rideau rivers, as well as the St. Lawrence, I did some online trolling in hopes of dredging up information.

I came across Fish-Hawk.net, for example, which is loaded with information and advice about fishing in the Ottawa Valley and as far west from there to the Bay of Quinte.

It is well worth a visit or two.

So scour around. There is no sense packing up for a fishing trip and having absolutely zero local knowledge.

It never ends well.

That old man sitting on the dock?

He could be the ticket.
