Outdoor Journal Radio – April 21 2018

Tournament angler Dave Chong joins Angelo with a wrap up on his winter fishing adventures. Next up is the season opening for walleye and steelhead. Dave shares his favourite locations for the early season.

Angelo is a closet birder! Monique Oltrop from the Point Pelee Festival of the Birds will join him with the schedule of events beginning May 1st. We’ll find out how the severe extended winter weather factors into the annual migration, for our little feathered friends?

In the Go Fish in Ontario segment, William Cooper (Coop) from Whitefish Lodge near Wawa, joins Angelo. The fishing for walleye, northern pike, smallmouth bass and lake trout is excellent on the Michipicoten River system. If you are interested in bear hunting, Coop has been hunting this area for over 20 years with high success rates.

Pet Vet Dr. Marie Holowaychuk has an interesting story about a four month old dog needing $8000 surgical work. Do you pay the money or give up the dog? There’s a pilot project underway to recover dog poop and put it to good use.
