Outdoor Journal Radio – December 16 2017

With a week to go before Christmas Day, Danny Thompson from Garmin electronics joins Angelo with some gift ideas, including the new ice fishing package.

Ecojustice says that the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry are missing the mark, and jeopardizing species at risk. According to Sarah McDonald,
there have been 2065 activities that have not been monitored under the Endangered Species Act. Sarah will explain the report, and why a change in approach is necessary.

The pictures and video by renowned wildlife photographer Paul Nicklen of the emaciated polar bear went viral. The story was heartbreaking, but was it a fraud?

Dr. Martyn Obbard, Research Scientist Emeritus from the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry, joins Angelo with his views on trumped up
photos, and the current status of polar bears in Ontario and Canada. On the Go Fish in Ontario segment, Angelo will hook up with Scott Chalmers. Scott is the owner of Chilly Willy’s Ice Fishing, which offers cabins on Lake Nipissing. Fish for walleye and watch the Leafs game while relaxing in a heated cabin.

When you head south on vacation and take the family dog, what are the rules and restrictions? Pet Vet Dr. Marie Holowaychuk joins Angelo with the list of requirements, and advice on the best way to get the necessary authorization.
