Summer is officially here, and the fishing season is in full swing. Next Saturday marks the beginning of a week of Licence Free Family Fishing.
From July 1st to 9th you can fish without a licence. Angelo will be talking to John Paterson from the St Joseph Island Hunters & Anglers about family fishing and their week long fishing tournament.

July 1st marks the 150th birthday of Canada as a nation. What’s more Canadian than the history of the Group of Seven artists, and the legend and mystery of the death of Tom Thomson. Kim Smith is the Chairman of the Friends of Algonquin Park and he joins Angelo to tell the story of the celebration of Thomson in Algonquin Park, and his death on Canoe Lake, 100 years ago.

Are water levels to blame for spawning failure and recruitment of young walleye on the Kawartha Lakes chain? Jamie Schmale, the Federal MP for Haliburton-Kawartha-Brock says water levels are the issue, and the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry are responsible. Angelo talks with Jamie about his online petition to spur action by the Ministry.

Dr. Melanie Wills has lyme disease. It took almost 20 years for a correct diagnosis. Dr. Wills is a research associate and molecular biologist at the University of Guelph. The University just received a donation from the G. Magnotta Foundation of $1.4 million to establish a lyme disease lab. Dr. Wills joins Angelo to explain how this funding will contribute to the future of medical
treatment for lyme disease in Ontario.

On the Go Fish in Ontario segment, Angelo will be talking with Mike Williams from Lakeside Cottages on Katchewanooka Lake, which is part of the Kawartha Lakes chain. Pete Bowman just returned from shooting an episode of Fish’n Canada
